Let Your Faith Shape The Future!

My name is Jamie Swafford and my passion is to bringing biblical values into the political arena. I began when my husband, Tom, ran for Kalamazoo County Sheriff. That experience propelled me into politics and ignited my desire to support local and state candidates who share my values and beliefs.

I earned my degree in Criminal Justice, focusing on law enforcement, and my professional journey, let’s just say, took an interesting turn when I became Tom’s Political strategist, campaign manager, photographer, etc. and with the guidance of our Political Consultant and dear friend, Dr. Linda Lee Tarver I quickly learned the Ins and Outs of campaigning.

I started to understand that representation matters, so during my husband’s campaign I actively focused my efforts on not only minority groups but Faith-based groups. This led to my election as Ethnic Vice Chair of the Michigan Republican Party in 2020.

During that year many people had lost hope in the system and the people that had been elected, so I traveled the state, and spoke about Jeremiah 29:11, Not only did I talk about hope and a future but I was able to share why I believe what I believe and why the republican platform has given me and others a hope and a future incorporating our values and beliefs.

One of the many opportunities God had given to me was being selected as a running mate, Lt. Governor, for one of the Gubernatorial Candidates in Michigan. It allowed me to share my faith on a huge platform.

I have also been able to organize candidate forums in the Southwest area of Michigan, specifically my home, creating a place for every day Americans to connect with Federal, State and Local candidates.

I've nominated several candidates at several State Conventions and have participated in many County Conventions.

As I have transitioned to Florida, I thought that my political days were over, but God, Right! boy, was I wrong, one of the first people Tom and I met was someone who was the state committeeman of the Polk County Republican Party he introduced me and Tom to the Republican Party of Florida.

I have come to realize that my time in politics is not over and God has more for me to accomplish. I have had many opportunities to be involved in local government, host, coordinate, and be a part of events not just within Polk County but the State of Florida.

At the heart of my mission in politics is to spread my faith in Jesus Christ within the political sphere and inspiring Christians to engage in government. I came across a saying on Facebook it said “if Christians are not engaged with politics, decisions will be made by people who think God is irrelevant and the truth of God’s word does not exist.”

Since moving to Florida, God continuously has been opening doors within the political arena to help me carry out my mission, so I have been continuing to support candidates, coordinate and host faith-based events and encourage people with my message.

Achievements

Throughout my political journey, I have actively engaged in initiatives to enhance community involvement and make sure everyone's voice is heard. I earned a Leadership Academy certification in Campaign Management, which further help give me the tools to run successful political campaigns. I also took part in the Haines City Citizens Academy, where I became an ambassador for local causes. Being selected as a Lieutenant Governor candidate gave me a deeper understanding of the election process and grassroots efforts. As the Ethnic Vice Chair for the Michigan Republican Party, I worked to uplift faith-based communities and people of color, ensuring representation within the party. My experiences reflect a dedication to leadership, community service, and fostering a more diverse political landscape.
